Central European University (CEU) in Budapest is conducting a series of environmental professional education events in July 2016 in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) Bureau for Policy and Programme Support and the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA).
These events, conducted as a part of the ISEPEI Project (In-Service ICT Training for Environmental Professionals), will aim to improve data-driven decision-making by keeping professionals up-to-date on the latest advances in information and communication technologies (ICTs) and their potential use in a wide variety of public policy applications.

ISEPEI has been running such international capacity building events since 2014 and was recently highlighted for its achievements at the Eye on Earth Summit in Abu Dhabi (http://eoesummit.org).

There will be two workshops offered in 2016:

1. Geospatial Technologies and Remote Sensing for Monitoring Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), 4-9 July 2016, Budapest. Timely to the recent adoption of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, this workshop will provide lectures and hands-on sessions for the effective monitoring of a variety of SDGs (e.g. water security, conservation, forestry, urban sustainability) with a focus on geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing.
2. Innovations in Disaster Risk Reduction, 11-15 July 2016, Budapest Based on UNDP and other DRRexperts’ experience, this workshop will highlight recent innovative advances in ICTs and how they are empowering both decision-makers and citizens to play a proactive role in managing disaster risks and providing more effective disaster response. We have limited funding and tuition fee waivers available for select outstanding applicants.

The workshops are aimed at decision-makers, including public policy and environmental organizations, as well as government agencies and ministries. For detailed information about the workshops and application procedures please visit: http://isepei.org/innovations-drr-2016 andhttp://isepei.org/geospatial-... email us at info [at] isepei [dot] org.

I will be happy to provide you with any additional information. Please feel free to distribute the calls, let me know if you are interested or here are other relevant organizations / projects / initiatives that might be interested to get involved.

Thank you and kind regards,
